COVID-19 Plasma Donations
If you have already had COVID-19, you may be able to help patients with the condition immensely through plasma donations. After you have had a viral infection like COVID-19, you will have antibodies in your system. These antibodies are what develops when the body fights an infection and can help fight off the infection if a person gets reinfected.
While there is some question with COVID-19 as to how long a person has antibodies, if you have had the virus, you may be able to help by donating plasma. Blood plasma carries the antibodies to the virus in it. As such, if you do have antibodies from having fought off the virus, your plasma will be rich in them.
Blood plasma can be transfused into severely ill patients. It may be beneficial in helping them survive and fight off the virus in their system. It is also important for COVID-19 Plasma research. As such, plasma donations can be one of the best ways to help with COVID-19 if you have already successfully recovered from the virus.
Donate Food to Hospital Staff and Other Front Line Workers
If you have not had COVID-19 or are otherwise unable to provide a COVID-19 plasma donation, that does not mean you cannot help out in other ways. One great thing you can do for people on the front lines is to donate food to them.
Provide a meal for the nurses in the ICU unit of a hospital. Donate food to a firehouse for a meal or a treat. You could partner with local businesses to do this as well. Many local businesses will be willing to donate food or sell it at a discount if you tell them it is for front line healthcare workers fighting COVID-19.
You could also crowdfund online to get more money so you could provide more food to the hospital or other front line worker staff. That way you could even donate multiple meals.
